Peacehaven completed a highly impressive first month of the
season with this comprehensive victory. Dominating from start to
finish, the Tye cruised to a comfortable victory, which took
them up to second in the league, .
Peacehaven went into the match on the back of a hard fought win
at Three Bridges, and started on the front foot. With the fast
improving Clive Snell pulling the strings in midfield they were
playing some impressive passing football.
Against a Ringmer side who are known for playing quality
football, Pete Edwards side were dominating the early exchanges.
They made their superiority pay when Tom Burton's cross found
Tom Levitt. His first shot was saved by Sean McFadden, but he
reacted fastest to poke in the rebound.
The visitors dominance increased as the half wore on, and they
soon doubled their advantage. Craig Bunch set up Levitt, whose
shot was again spilled by McFadden, prompting a scramble,
eventually settled by a diving header from Callum Saunders.
Bunch could have increased the lead just before the break, but
the keeper just about managed to scramble his shot away.
The second half continued to be largely one way traffic, and
Peacehaven should have gone further ahead, as Bunch somehow
missed from a matter of feet after good work from Burton. Levitt
also had an effort scrambled off the line, and you began to
wonder if Peacehaven might rue their profligacy.
Any such doubts were dispelled when Burton teed up Bunch again,
and this time the striker made no mistake. That pretty much
finished the match as contest and though Ringmer never gave up,
they were unable to stop the The Tye collecting a first clean
sheet of the season.
