Frustrating opening day for
Peacehaven.
Peacehaven's season
kicked off in frustrating fashion at East Grinstead
today. Despite dominating large parts of this match
they were unable to find a way past a well organised
home side.
This was a repeat of the final league
fixture from last season, but there were only two
survivors in Peacehaven team. The latest new
signing, Ryan MacMillan, started on the bench. |

The match started
quickly, and it was Peacehaven who created the early
chances. Scott Marshall's swerving shot brought the
best out of Adam Woodward, and the keeper made
another good save from Ashley Rees shortly
afterwards. At the other end Liam Baitup and Luke
Piscina both wasted opportunities, as the Wasps
started to dominate. The only goal of the match
came at the start of the second half. From a corner,
Piscina stole in at the near post to head past Josh
Heyburn. It was a very disappointing goal to give
away, but Peacehaven responded positively.
They dominated the rest of the match, but despite
having the weight of possession they were unable to
carve out any clear chances. Roy Pook went closest
with a low drive, but the breakthrough never came,
and the points went to the home side.
