Peacehaven claimed their first league points of
the season after a vastly improved performance.
It was a much needed win which eased some of the
tension around Piddinghoe Avenue. The Tye
started the match at the bottom of the league,
facing a side with three wins from their first
three matches, but you wouldn't have known it in
the first half.
Peacehaven dominated from the start, and
could have taken an early lead when Scott
Marshall burst through, only to be denied by a
good save from Rob Gordon. Shortly afterwards
Jamie Cullinane sneaked in at the back post to
volley Peacehaven into the lead, with his second
goal of the season.
The lead was soon doubled as Clive Snell's
shot came back off the post and Tom Levitt
followed up with a simple finish.
Peacehaven were playing well, and Crowborough
had been offered little opportunity to make a
breakthrough.
The match was put beyond doubt midway through
the second half when Rob O'Toole volleyed in
Peacehaven's third goal
(Pictured below).
It was a fitting reward for the striker, who had
run himself into the ground all afternoon.
There was further good news for Peacehaven as
Craig Bunch made his first appearance since
March, coming on as a late substitute.
Speaking after the game, Manager Pete Edwards
said he was delighted with the result and the
performance. "To be honest, we haven't been
outplayed by anyone yet. Everyone knows we
should have more points than we've got, but
we're off and running now and we'll move on from
here - Goals change games !! "
