 Southwick U18's  1  Peacehaven & T.  U18's  1

Following Sunday's destruction of Haywards Heath, the Under 18's came crashing down to earth on Thursday night, when a poor performance earned them a 1-1 draw at Southwick.

It wasn't a night to remember, especially for two players who'd appeared for the First Team on Tuesday. Freddie Barker received a red card, and Josh Heyburn broke two fingers !! (Both pictured)

Peacehaven led at half time thanks to a Freddie Barker goal following a goalmouth scramble. They couldn't seem to find the fluency they'd played with on Sunday, but seemed to be heading for a somewhat fortunate victory until conceding a penalty in the 84th minute.

The kick was saved by Josh Heyburn, but Southwick followed up to convert the rebound. In injury time Freddie Barker, booked earlier in the game, was cautioned for kicking the ball away - and so received his marching orders.

It was only in the dressing room after the game that Josh Heyburn, who'd been in pain, realised there was a serious problem after taking his glove off. He was taken to hospital where it was confirmed he has 2 broken fingers. He will be out of action for a minimum of 6 weeks.

"It was a disappointing night all round" said manager Shaun Saunders. "I'm disappointed for Josh because he's been in great form and had recently been picked for Sussex, and I'm disappointed in the team because it wasn't the kind of performance you'd expect from them"

On Sunday, they travel to Sidlesham in The Sussex FA Youth Cup.
