encounter, which represented Rye's
second defeat of the season. Scott Marshall replaced
Clive Snell (sidelined after waking up with a stiff
neck!) in an otherwise unchanged line up - which
will soon be boosted by the arrival of Ryan Bradley
from Shoreham (via Lancing for who he only played 1
game). The match
started quickly but soon became rather congested in
midfield. Peacehaven were the more threatening of
the sides, and should have taken an early lead, as
Levitt just failed to react in time to Craig Hall's
incisive cross.
Rye were without the
unsurprisingly suspended Duncan MacArthur, and they
were clearly missing the invention he brings to
their side.
Peacehaven became increasingly
dominant at the start of the second half, and just
as frustration was beginning to mount they grabbed
the lead. Craig Hall made a burst down the right and fed
Tom Levitt (pictured),
whose shot looped up past Josh Pelling and dropped into the
back of the net.
That spurred the visitors into a
more attacking mindset, and the arrival of Scott
Ramsay in attack certainly added to the threat. Peacehaven's defence was far more stable than it has
been at other times this season, and they largely
kept the visitors at arms length. Indeed Joe Adams
barely had to make a save, as he was well protected
by the much improved duo of Tom Bowles and Adam
Kneller.
Temperatures became raised near
the end as the officiating became increasingly
eccentric, but it would have been hard to argue that
Peacehaven didn't merit the win.
