Peacehaven & T. Res.  5  Haywards Heath Town Res.  4

Congratulations to the reserve team who today won their first 3pts of the season.

They totally dominated the first half with the Haywards Heath keeper being kept very busy. He made good saves from several Peacehaven efforts including a Ben Wheatland freekick and a Sean Caffrey long range shot. Peacehaven took the lead from a Darren Wall corner which Ben Wheatland headed home, but the lead didnt last long as 2 minutes later Haywards heath were level.

On 22 minutes Peacehaven keeper Simon Parsons was called in to action with a fine one on one save to keep the scores level. Then came a wonder strike from Jake Powell to put Peacehaven back in front after 34 minutes and a shot from out wide right on halftime from Ben Wheatland which looped over the Heath keeper for his 2nd and Havens 3rd.

Haywards Heath started the second half the brighter but found themselves 4-1 down after Sam Jeffrey cut in off the right flank to shoot low passed the diving keeper. This spurred Haven into action and Matt Lago's chip looked to be going in but bounced back off the bar.

Haywards Heath never gave up and Parsons had to make several fine stops to keep Haven in the game. Heath pulled it back to 4-3 with 2 goals in quick succession on 51 and 57 minutes but, just as they had found a way back into the game Michael Page rose at the near post to head home another Darren Wall cross to make it 5-3.

However the drama wasnt over as Heath pulled back yet another goal on 88 minutes to make it a very tense finish, 5-4 the final score.

Richard Whittington commented after the game "It was great to go out on a win, its been coming for a long time, the lads finally got their reward for weeks of hard work"

This was "Tricky's" final game in charge of the Reserves, as he now leaves to become 1st Team Coach at Steyning Town. "I'm sad to be leaving the club" said Richard, "I've really enjoyed my time at Peacehaven. Its a great club with great people"

He takes with him our best wishes, and thanks for everything he's done at Piddinghoe Avenue.
