  PEACEHAVEN & T.  4  LOXWOOD  1

Peacehaven commenced their defence of the RUR Cup with a comfortable victory over second division Loxwood. A hat trick from Craig Bunch was the highlight of an entertaining contest.

After their agonising extra time exit from the FA Vase three days earlier a match against a fired up side from a league below was probably the last thing Peacehaven wanted. They were without Ashely Rees, who is likely to remain out of action until Christmas after rupturing ankle ligaments at Beckenham, but were able to welcome back Craig Bunch and Craig Hall.

They took an early lead when Bunch seized upon some dawdling in the visiting defence and cut back for Tom Levitt to fire in his first goal in seven matches. That lead was soon extended as Bunch headed in, unchallenged, from a well directed Clive Snell corner.

Loxwood were in danger of being swamped, but responded with good attacking play of their own, and started to threaten the home defence. Their main threat was front man Isvan Gulyas, whose movement and hold up play was causing cosiderable trouble to the Peacehaven defence. He reduced the deficit when he got on the end of a clever pass from Matt Hoyle, and suddenly Loxwood were back in the match.

Their inability to deal with set pieces soon proved to be their undoing however, as Peacehaven restored their two goal advantage before half time. Snell's free kick was helped on by Adam Kneller, and Bunch applied another close range finish.

Loxwood tired after the break, and were never able to offer the same sort of threat. Peacehaven started to control possession and you sensed that the danger had passed. They almost added to their lead when Kneller's header struck the bar, and it wasn't long before they claimed their forth goal.  A ricochet off Tom Magnus send the ball skidding into Bunch's path, and he applied a calm finish to end the match as a contest.

Peacehaven probably should have added to the score, as Bunch, Rob O'Toole and Darren Wall all spurned presentable chances, but that would have been harsh on Loxwood, who for at least half the match had threatened an upset. Ultimately though the victory was comfortable.
