  PEACEHAVEN & T. U18's  3  WHITEHAWK U18's  3

They say lightening never strikes twice, but that argument was proved totally untrue here at Piddinghoe Avenue this morning. Just as the 1st Team yesterday threw away a 2 goal lead after having a player dismissed, so the Under 18's did exactly the same thing in this local derby with Whitehawk.

Peacehaven had taken the lead in the 2nd minute with the first corner of the game. Connor Saunders header was parried by Kit Chell in the Whitehawk goal, but Freddie Barker followed in to open the scoring.

Within 5 minutes Whitehawk drew level with their first attack. A goalmouth scramble eventually saw Sonny Wilkinson fire through the home defence to equalise.

Dean Smith was unlucky not to put Peacehaven back infront after 17 minutes when his shot was well saved by Chell, but the home side took the lead again shortly after. Harrison Cullinane's freekick was floated into the area, and Barker was on hand to score his 2nd of the game.

Whitehawk went close to equalising soon after the break, but from their next attack Peacehaven extended their lead. Tom Tyler's wide free-kick from near the halfway line curled across the box and straight into the far corner.

Peacehaven were playing as a strong unit at this point, and the game now looked beyond Whitehawk. Having played for the first team yesterday, Connor Saunders was substituted but within 3 minutes the whole complex of the game changed. Dean Smith received a 2nd Yellow and Peacehaven where now playing with 10 men and without their Captain.

Whitehawk reduced the arrears on 65 minutes when Josh Bryant headed in from a corner, and then grabbed a point with a goal 10 minutes from time. Alex Wilson spotted Heyburn off his line, and his long range effort dropped over the keeper for the equaliser.

Manager Shaun Saunders was far from happy with the proceedings saying, "Some players need to look at their attitudes and the way they prepare for games. It was those things which were to blame today."
