  MATCH FACTS BELOW

The Under 18's march towards their League title continued this morning with a disciplined 2-0 victory at an in-form Haywards Heath.

They where without skipper Connor Saunders (withdrawn by 1st Team Management), Steven Whelan who was ill and Frankie Cocozza, but the strength of the squad is such that they where still able to put in a commanding performance, regardless of the absentees.

The first half was played at a high tempo and Peacehaven took the lead after 20 minutes. Josh Heyburn played in Freddie Barker out wide, and his jinking run and cross found Adam Harris unmarked at the far post to open the scoring.

Further chances fell to Barker, Miles and Lago before the break, but the home keeper was in fine form to keep Peacehaven at bay.

Peacehaven have recently been making a habit of scoring soon after half time,

and so it proved again today. Tom Tyler's pass founnd Matt Lago who beat two defenders before drilling home from 18 yards.

Things were looking comfortable for Peacehaven now, but injuries Joe Panther, Adam Harris and Matt Nuttman later in the game meant that, as all the substitutes had been used, they had to play the last 10 minutes with 9 men.

It was a tense finish, but stern defending saw Peacehaven hold on for another 3 points.

Manager Shaun Saunders said later, "Im happy with a clean sheet and the points. I've said all along to the lads that we have a decent squad, and no matter what team I pick, we will be just as strong and hard to beat. Joe and Adam will be ok for next week but after a hospital visit this afternoon it seems Matt's dislodged his cartilage, and will be out for at least a month - we wish him a speedy recovery."
