went close with a shot which
narrowly missed, Matt Nuttman saw an effort
scrape over the bar and Sam Wells looked certain
to score when set free, only to see his shot
saved by the home keeper.
The visitors were soon to be
regretting their missed chances when a long
drop-kick found it's way over the Peacehaven
defence, and the striker went round Simon
Parsons before steering home.
Only being one goal behind at the
break, there was still some hope for Peacehaven,
but with no subsititutes available, the soaring
temperature soon took it's toll.
Mile Oak extended their lead when
a cross was easily converted from close range,
and put the game beyond Peacehaven with a
similarly worked goal soon after.
A forth goal near the end
completed a miserable afternoon for Peacehaven,
although there was still time for a consolation.
With time running out, a Tom Tyler corner was
met by Jon Miller on the back post, who rifled
home to claim his first goal for Peacehaven.
Hailsham's win at St Francis
means that they are now safe, and it all comes
down to the last game. St Francis, level on
points with Peacehaven play Champions,
Eastbourne Town, on Tuesday evening. The result
of that game will determine exactly what
Peacehaven need from their last game of the
season with Hassocks next Saturday. |
