early lead. Clive Snell's well
placed free kick was side footed home by Craig
Bunch at the far post, with no visiting defender
anywhere near him.
Redhill have been one of the most entertaining
sides in the League over the last two seasons,
but their defending has continually let them
down, and that was the case again on Saturday.
Snell was having an inflential match in the
middle and he set up another goal, this time
playing in Ryan Bradley for his third goal in
four games.
Redhill were still carrying a
threat going forward and almost reduced the
deficit before half time as Andrew Dalhouse's
shot was scrambled off the line by Connor
Saunders and Dalhouse had another chance to
score after the break. He ghosted past Coleman,
but with the goal beckoning he somehow failed to
find the target.
That miss was made to look
even more costly as Peacehaven extended their
lead minutes later. Bunch had terrorised Corbin
Turner all afternoon, and he outmuscled him to
claim a long clearance and chipped over the
stranded Chris May.
It hadn't been a good week for
Redhill, and luck seemed to have deserted them
when Leon Dussard hit the post with a well
struck shot. Their frustration was soon
compounded as Snell curled in a free kick to
make it 4-0, and it would have seemed that the
game was over as a contest.
When Neil John headed in from
a corner it looked to be nothing more than
consolation for the visitors, who had now thrown
four players into attack in an effort to salvage
something from the afternoon.
Dussard then added a second
from the penalty spot after an impetuous
challenge from Coleman, and when Jon Difford
powered home a header the match was suddenly a
contest again.
It was now a countdown to see
if the referee would blow his whistle before
Peacehaven blew their lead, but thankfully time
ran out and the points were safe. |
