Tues 6th Sept, 2011.
S.C.L. Division 1. |
There was always a danger that Peacehaven might
be suffering a hang-over from Saturday's FA Cup
exit at Sittingbourne. Add to that the appalling
weather of the day and you'd come up with a good
enough reason to stay at home, but anyone who
made that decision missed a commanding
performance by Peacehaven which saw them move
back into the top three.
There was only one change to
Saturday's line-up, with Ben Bowra replacing Wes
Millis, and Peacehaven made their intentions
clear from the start. Within the first few
minutes, Ashley Rees' low drive into the 6 yard
box caused panic in the home defence, and the
ball was scrambled away for a corner.
Soon after, Owen Callaghan's
effort from outside the box beat Tom Betts in
the home goal but just dipped over the bar - but
it wasn't long before Peacehaven were in front.
Callaghan's low shot through a crowded area was
parried out by Betts, and Ryan Bradley's pass
was converted from close range by Ashley Rees.
The home side were having trouble
getting a foothold in the game, and Peacehaven
soon doubled their lead. Ashley Rees' cross was
met by Owen Callaghan and he made no mistake to
score his second in as many games. |
