Uckfield Town  6  Peacehaven & T. Res  0

Sat 12th November, 2011.  Intermediate Cup 3rd Round

  Match details below

This seasons Cup exploits came to an abrupt end for the Reserves on Saturday, with them going out of the Intermediate Cup against an inform Uckfield Town (1st Team).

Uckfield where unbeaten in 9 matches going into this game, and Peacehaven arrived with a depleted squad. With regulars Michael Page, Chris Barton and Aaron Birch injured or unavailable, along with some last minute withdrawals on Saturday morning, the odds where firmly against 'Haven as they arrived at The Victoria Ground with only 11 players.

They got off to the worst possible start with Joe Miller putting the home side ahead in the opening minute, and Uckfield doubled their lead soon after through Rob Jones.

To Peacehaven's credit they managed to contain for the next hour but, as legs became tired, and with no substitutes, the inevitable happened and Uckfield started adding to the lead.

Miller hit his second of the game on 65 minutes and Murray Heyward's goal 10

minutes later put the result beyond doubt. Miller then completed his hat-trick 7 minutes from time and Jamie McPhail completed the scoring in the last minute. Uckfield now go on to face Willingdon Athletic, away, in the 4th Round.

It hasn't been a good time for the Reserves lately, but they will now be looking to regroup, recapture their unique fighting spirit, and concentrate on catching the cluster of sides who are a few points above them in the League.
