Ahead of two huge home matches
Peacehaven at last got their first domestic
League win since August. With the visit of the
Albion and a huge FA Vase tie to come this week
this was the lowest profile match, but in the
long term perhaps the most important.
If Peacehaven are to maintain
their promotion chances they simply cannot
afford many more slip ups, and this is exactly
the sort of match they have to win. Their
victory was rather more comfortable than the
scoreline suggests, with Chichester's late
comeback coming too late to threaten the result,
and there was no disguising the relief around
Piddinghoe Avenue afterwards.
Shaun Saunders had gambled with
his starting line up, leaving out the likes of
Jake Buss, Carl Dunk and Ashley Rees against a
side who arrived bottom of the league.
With the wind swirling around
Piddinghoe Avenue the match got off to a scrappy
start, with Peacehaven in particular struggling
to adapt to the conditions. They made a number
of individual errors early on, but the visitors
showed little sign of |
