defence, Bradley Murray making
his debut for the club after signing from
Burgess Hill and Scott Marshall and Ryan Bradley
starting on the bench. Matt Fleming also
returned to the starting line up and Rob O'Toole
moved up front. Bradley's time on the bench was
short however, as an early injury to Ashley Rees
brought about his swift introduction to the
fray.
Peacehaven had made a purposeful
start, and took an early lead when Connor
Saunders headed in from Carl Dunk's corner. At
that point Peacehaven should have built on their
advantage, but not for the first time this
season, they were unable to do so. Crowborough
started to come back into the match towards the
break, and would have drawn level if Dave Adams
had found the target with his unchallenged
header.
Peacehaven emerged after half
time looking very nervous, and started to give
the ball away with alarming regularity.
Crowborough were snapping into challenges, and
the hosts were unable to retain possession,
inviting pressure.
The inevitable happened when a
defensive mix up saw the visitors draw level.
Jake Buss came for a cross, but Tom Wood nipped
in ahead of him and steered a header into the
net.
There was a sense of resignation
around Piddinghoe Avenue as the match drifted
away from Peacehaven. They did rally towards the
end, and could have gone back in front through
Rob O'Toole had Ben Pryor not made a fine save,
but there was to be no late drama and the match
ended in disappointment. |
